Richard Elvin Osburn, Sr., known by his friends and family as Pete, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2010 at his home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma at the age of seventy-three. Pete was born on September 22, 1936 in Bell Gardens, California. He was the son of Joseph and Lyllis Osburn. Pete was raised and attended school in the Los Angeles area. Pete was a lifelong truck driver; moving to Berryhill, Oklahoma from California in 1975. He later moved to Terlton and then to Cleveland for several years before relocating to Sapulpa in 1990. After moving to Oklahoma, Pete worked as the shop foreman for OTL Trucking for several years and then later for Tom Inman Trucking. In 1986, Pete began working with John Christner who was forming a new trucking company in Sapulpa, John Christner Trucking. There goal was to provide a company that would strive to not only meet and exceed a customerÃs needs, but to also give them lasting value. The company was founded on the principals of providing a workplace that fostered and thrived on communications and teamwork. Pete was a dedicated employee who lived to work and was always available for his employer; often acting in the roll of a trouble shooter to make sure everything operated efficiently at the trucking company. Although, working was his passion, Pete enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. He was known as the World Famous Pete, who was honest forthright and had a great sense of humor. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a hard working trucker that would ash he put it, ìkick your butt.î Pete is survived by his son, Richard Elvin Osburn, Jr. and his wife, Janet of Jennings, Oklahoma; two daughters, Hazel Irene Burger of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Heidi Irene Sanders of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Ty Osburn of Jennings, Oklahoma, Zacary Burger of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Brandan Brown of Pawnee, Oklahoma; brother, Tommy Osburn of California; niece and nephew, Jackie and Mike Fowler of Cleveland, Oklahoma; great nieces, Jodie Flager and Michelle and her husband, Guy Welch; and his trucking family at John Christner Trucking. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Elton Osburn, Jr and his parents, Joseph E. and Lyllis Osburn. Graveside Services will be held at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Chapman-Black Chapel with Gene Black officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
