Richard Bonnie Don Toney was born on September 23, 1945 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. He was the son of Jess Melvin and Rossie Bell (Reeves) Toney. As a young child Richard moved with his family to Muskogee, Oklahoma where he was raised. He later graduated high school from Muskogee High with the Class of 1963. While living in Muskogee, Richard met the love of his life Linda Jane Cross. The couple was united in marriage on September 5 1967, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The couple established their initial home in Muskogee and later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1972. Richard accepted employment with Enterprise Manufacturing as a machinist where he worked for many years. He was later promoted to Quality Control Manager. He later began working at Lesters Pontiac as the make ready manager preparing the autos for the customers following their purchase. In 1986, Richard and Linda purchased 20 acres of property as well as a starter home they moved onto their new property in Osage, Oklahoma, where they worked together and built their lovely home. Richard was a very talented and creative employee and was capable of completing any task assigned him. He was the kind of person that was always helping others and consequently developed life-long friendships. Richard loved watching ìThis Old Houseî which would inspire him for his next project at home. He loved projects especially working with Henry and Kristi Lafuente. People often considered Richard to be like family and held him in highest regards. He is deeply loved and will be greatly' missed by all. Richard passed from this life on Friday, January 28, 2011 in the comforts of his own home at the age of 65 years 4 months and 5 days. Survivors are his loving wife Linda Jane of the home, three sons Richard Don Toney and his wife Michele of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Jesse Michael Toney and his wife Christie of Osage, Oklahoma, Dustin Dwayne Toney of the home; one brother David Paul Marshal Toney of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters Oklahoma Lilly Braunschweig of Mustang, Oklahoma, Eunice Jean Sumrall of Osage, Oklahoma; five grandchildren Zander, Caleb, Nichole, Emily and Taylor as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents Richard was preceded in death by two brothers Jimmy Melvin Toney, James Charley Toney; two sisters Rosie Emma Ennis, Ruth Violet Esparza and his best friend Dean Scott. Chapel services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, January 31, 2011 at Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Osage Cemetery in Osage, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
