Randy G. Burger, local business owner, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2006 at the age of forty-nine years, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on January 26, 1957, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Johnnie Elvin and Helen Jenice (Compton) Burger. Randy attended elementary school in Blackburn, middle school in Cleveland and high school in Ralston where he graduated in 1975. He was active in basketball and football. Randy was married to his wife, Lisa Robin Craig on May 11, 1979 at the Blackburn Baptist Church. They had three children together: Shannon Brooke, John Robert and Jace Colton.
Randy began his working career at Leggett and Platt in Hominy, Oklahoma after graduating from high school. He later began to work in the oilfield as a derrick hand and driller. He served as a firefighter at the Cleveland Fire Department for three years. During this time he operated a used automobile sales business with his dad called B & B Auto. In 1991 he moved with this family to the Farmington, New Mexico area where he worked as a pipeline welder for about four years. From 1994 - 2003, he was employed by John Mullen at Ugly John's Custom Boats. In 2003, he began his own construction business, Burger Outdoor which consisted of constructing commercial and private boat docks. He was especially proud of the Crosstimbers Marina at Skiatook Lake.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Elvin Burger, and his brother, Jerry Elvin Burger. Randy is survived by his wife Robin of the home; his son, J. C. of the home; his son, J. R. of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his daughter, Brooke Lindamood and her husband, Josh of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his mother, Helen of Cleveland, Oklahoma; his grandson, Jayden Burger of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his sister, Debby Hall and her husband, Jim of Cleveland, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Randy trusted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior, at the age of thirteen. Randy was a faithful brother at East Tulsa Bible Chapel where he also served as a deacon. He was known by is friends, family, and community as a man who dearly loved his family, who loved his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ, and spoke often in words or by wearing Scripture t-shirts or caps. His favorite verses were 1 John 4:13 and 1 Samuel 30:6. He was a friend and servant to many.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Cleveland with Rev. Paul Anderson officiating. Interment will be at the Blackburn Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Nienhuis, Brent Lamkin, Mike Burger, Jerry Burger, J. R. Burger, and J. C. Burger. Honorary pallbearers will be Jayden Burger, Hayden Burger, Tyler Burger, Tanner Craig and Dylan Robison.
