Ramona Lee Leake went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, January 3, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Ramona was born on August 24, 1932, in Humansville, Missouri the daughter of Clyde Rufus and Edith Marie (Durbin) Earnest. Ramona grew up and attended school in Humansville where she graduated with the Class of 1950. During her time in high school Ramona was active in the band playing the Flugelhorn. Following high school Ramona began working at the Humansville Hospital where she learned all the stages of nursing while on the job. Ramona later was introduced to Ora Leonard Leake, Jr. in Humansville and the couple was united in marriage on May 24, 1953. Following their marriage the couple established their initial home in Joplin, Missouri during that time Ramona worked at the Joplin Hospital. For several years Ramona and Leonard had ministries in several states before returning to Missouri. In 1972, Ramona and Leonard moved to Cleveland for a short time and Ramona worked at Ben Franklin. She held numerous classes at Ben Franklin's teaching cake decorating, candy making, silk flower design and many other art and craft classes. Following the closure of Ben Franklin, Ramona worked for several local doctors as a transcriptionist in Cleveland. Ramona and Leonard spread the gospel throughout the United States for over 60 years before moving to Cleveland in 2009.
Ramona for a couple years while residing in Chetopa, Kansas worked at Conard's Pecan Factory. During their time in the ministry Ramona taught Bible study as well as Bible School for many years. Ramona and Leonard for a couple years worked at Yellowstone National Park in the Old Faithful area. While working in Wyoming they would lead church services and devotionals in the park. During that time, it gave them the opportunity to travel throughout Montana, Idaho and Wyoming exploring nature. Ramona and Leonard always loved singing with Leonard. She loved the time while being creative doing cross stitch, reading her Bible, making her children's clothes, painting scenery, baking and being a wonderful homemaker.
Survivors include his daughter Kathy Sizemore and her husband Jerry of Cleveland, Oklahoma; son Larry Leake and his wife Diana of Douglas, Wyoming; son Dean Leake and wife Holly of North Ogden, Utah; son David Leake of Worland, Wyoming; brother-in-law Corky Leake and his wife Pat of Cleveland, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Wanda Leake of Lake Charles, Louisiana; twenty five grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Ramona was preceded in death by her oldest son, Gary Leake; two grandsons, Jacob and Joshua, brother Darwin Earnest his wife Mary and sister Sue Carol Killian and her husband Ben.
