Ralph Samuel Spears

Ralph Samuel Spears was born January 14, 1946 in Hominy, Oklahoma. He was the son of Roy and Ruth (Brink) Spears. He was raised and attended school in Cleveland, graduating with the Class of 1966. Ralph accepted employment in Sand Springs shortly after graduating working as a laborer. He was an avid fisherman and would fish whenever he could. He especially enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. Ralph also had a sincere love for animals. He would take in and care for most any stray dog or cat that came near his home in Cleveland. He accepted his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a teenager and was baptized at the First Baptist Church. After the First Baptist Church relocated to Crestview Drive, Ralph began attending the Grace Baptist Church when it moved to the East Cherokee location. He was known throughout the local community as a friendly and honest citizen that loved to visit with old classmates and friends. Ralph passed on to his heavenly dwelling place on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident near Pawnee on his way the Pawnee Indian Clinic. Ralph was proud of his native American heritage and was a member of the Cherokee Tribe. He is survived by a brother Kenneth Spears and his fiancÈe, Regina Loper of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and a sister, Mary Lou Teeman of Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruth Spears. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral on Friday, November 26, 2010 with Rev. Richard Perkins officiating. His cremated remains will be interred at the A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma.
