Ralph Allen Carr

Ralph Allen Carr was born September 2, 1942 in Durant, Oklahoma. He was the son of Ralph W. and Geraldine Carr. Ralph resided with his family in Idabel until the age of thirteen when they moved to Wynona and then on to Pawhuska in 1957.

While residing in Pawhuska, Ralph met Barbara Ramsey. The couple was united in married on August 24, 1961 and established their home in Cleveland. Shortly after their marriage, Ralph was called to active duty while serving in the Army National Guard of Oklahoma on April 10, 1962. After a period of time on active duty, Ralph was returned to service in the National Guard for the remainder of his service time.

Upon return from his military service, Ralph returned to his family in Cleveland and accepted employment with C. E. NATCO in Sand Springs. After completion of a training program, he worked as a welder for the company for many years. He then worked for Wackenhut Security for a short time before accepting employment at Hissom Memorial Center in Sand Springs. He worked there as a certified nurse's aide, assisting in the care of clients. After the closure of Hissom, he continued to work as a caregiver in Enid for the State of Oklahoma for a few more years, working for a total of twelve years. After suffering a heart attack in 1995, Ralph medically retired in 1997.

Ralph is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Barbara Ann Carr, of the home; seven daughters, Susan Young, Seminole, Oklahoma, Cindy Miller, Hominy, Oklahoma, Laurie Jackson, Briggsdale, Colorado, Patti Hall, Stillwater, Oklahoma, Debbie Carr, Cleveland, Oklahoma, Karri Erfurdt, Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Sandi Moore, Bixby, Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a sister, Susan Kohder, Baton Rogue, Louisiana.

Ralph accepted Christ as his personal savior while living in Pawhuska and was baptized in the First Baptist Church there. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cleveland. Ralph's hobbies included bowling and visiting with his many friends at the Hickory House Restaurant.

He passed away at his home in Cleveland on Sunday, October 31, 2004 at the age of sixty-two years, one month and twenty-nine days. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Stanley Carr.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Cleveland with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
