Funeral services for Phyllis Ann Spencer will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Hallett, Oklahoma with Pastor S.K. Neal and Pastor Darrell Brown officiating. Burial will be held in the Bethany Cemetery in Hallett, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Phyllis was born on January 10, 1939 in Perkins, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Bert L. and Goldie Mae (Redburn) Moler. As a young girl Phyllis was raised in the Sand Springs area where she attended school. Following the completion of her education at Charles Page High School, Phyllis accepted employment with Munsingwear in Hominy, Oklahoma. On June 8, 1968, Phyllis was united in marriage to Norman W. Spencer at the First Baptist Church in Hallett. The couple soon made their home in Roland, Oklahoma where the couple continued to reside until 1981. During her time in Roland, Phyllis worked for Fort Smith Outerwear. When Phyllis and Norman returned to this area, Phyllis resumed her position with Munsingwear as a seamstress. She continued working there after the company sold to Southwest Cupid and remained at the plaint until the closure of the facility in Hominy. Phyllis loved to teach people about her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She taught numerous children Sunday school classes throughout the years. Phyllis and Norman were always available to assist their church in any capacity necessary. She enjoyed traveling; taking several trips to New Mexico, Los Angeles, Reno as well as a trip to Disney World. She also took pride in her flower garden and loved feeding and watching the birds. Phyllis also enjoyed working word search puzzles in her spare time. Most of all in life Phyllis enjoyed getting her family together during the holidays; this allowed her to spend time with her grandchildren which she cherished and loved so much. Phyllis Ann Spencer went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the age of 72 years one month and 12 days. Survivors are her loving husband Norman of the home, six children Amy Dalton of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Beth White of Lancaster, California, Darrell Spencer and his wife Delores of Marion, Kansas, Luci Helmer and her husband Ladd of Marion, Kansas, Mary Wike and her husband Ralph of Harper, Kansas, Brenda Solis of Longview, Texas; nineteen grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents Phyllis was preceded in death by her daughter Marsha Helmer, granddaughter Jenny Helmer both in October of 1999 as well as a brother Ray Carl Moler.
