Phillip Riley Morrison, of Hominy, Oklahoma, died Monday, August 11, 2008 as a result of injuries received after falling from a drilling rig in rural Osage County, at the age of 26.
Phillip was born November 6, 1981, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was the son of Phillip and Judith (Albright) Morrison. Phillip began his education in Pawhuska and then moved to Hominy, graduating from Hominy High School with the Class of 2000. Phillip was active with little league baseball in his early years and while attending high school played as a member of the Hominy Buck Basketball team.
After graduation he was employed by the Sapulpa Herald in the offset printing department for a while. He was later employed by Diamond Back Correctional Center as a security officer when he moved to Watonga, Oklahoma in 2004. After a few years, Phillip returned to Hominy where he was hired working at the Sonic Drive-In. He then worked at several odd jobs before gaining employment with Buzz Drilling on a drilling rig in Osage County.
Phillip was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He loved to spend time at Osage Point and Bull Creek camping.
He is survived by his father Phillip Dean Morrison of Watonga, Oklahoma; mother and step-father Judith Ann and Morris, Jr. Pradmore of Hominy, Oklahoma; son, Christian Riley Morrison, daughter, Brittany Nicole Combs and step daughter Briana Cheyenne Combs all of Maramec, Oklahoma; half brother, Christopher Pierce of Hominy, Oklahoma; step sister Jessica Pradmore of Hominy, Oklahoma, sister Tonya Hunt of Hominy, Oklahoma; companion Heather Combs of Maramec, Oklahoma; paternal grandparents, Sue and Jim Malaske of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; maternal grandmother Judy Albright of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; maternal grandfather James Albright of Hominy, Oklahoma; paternal grandparents Morris, Sr. and Sherry Pradmore of Hominy, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather Jimmy Carl Morrison and a step brother Tim Pradmore.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richey Albright, Lloyd Albright, Randy Morrison, R. J. Morrison, Johnny Ray Smith and Robert Viney.
Services will be held Friday, August 15, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Calvary Woship Center with Rev. Kenny Christian officiating. Burial will be at the A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
