Paul Jerry Wilson, Sr. passed from this life on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at the Muskogee Veterans Center at the age of 78 years four months and twenty days. Paul was born March 29, 1935, in Hominy, Oklahoma. He was the son of Paul Ralph and Bessie Edith (Coonfield) Wilson. As a young boy Paul was raised in Pawhuska and later graduated with the Class of 1953, from Pawhuska High School. During his time in high school Paul was very active in sports and received the honor as Football King his senior year. Following high school Paul joined the United States Marine Corps. He served his country for many years and served time in Korea as well as Vietnam and was very proud to be a Marine. On March 11, 1960, Paul was united in marriage to Connie Josephine Beville and to this union there are five children Paul, Jr., Lillian, Samantha, Amelia and Jamie. Paul was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps on January 28, 1971. Paul returned to Cleveland where he and Connie raised their children. He accepted employment with Mid Region at the Port of Catoosa where he worked for several years. Paul also worked for the City of Cleveland for a short time before he retired. Paul loved to help his family and loved each and every one of them. He loved to go fishing, watching WWE Wrestling, John Wayne movies, westerns and war movies. He was also a Dallas Cowboy fan and loved to drink Diet Coke. Survivors are his three daughters, Samantha Mattingly of Cleveland, Amelia Wilson of Cleveland and Jamie Wynn of Tulsa; eight grandchildren, Levi Wynn, Jennifer Decker, Leslie Wynn, Christi Wynn, Amy Graeler, Joseph Wynn, Steven Mattingly and Lillian Mattingly; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents Paul was preceded in death by his wife Connie, daughter Lillian Wilson and a son, Paul J. Wilson, Jr. Chapel services will be held 10:30 am Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Thompson officiating. Private burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
