Patricia Lee Sweeden, longtime resident of Hominy passed from this life on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at her home with her family at her side at the age 60 years, four months and twenty two days. Patricia was born January 21, 1953, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Patrick Warren, Sr. and Virginia Lee (Drake) Cole. As a young girl Pat grew up in Osage County residing in the Barnsdall and Pawhuska areas. Following the completion of her education Pat began singing and working at several places in the area. She later gained employment at the Pawhuska Nursing Home where she worked as a nurseís aide. She was later sponsored by the nursing home and obtained her LPN License in Bartlesville at the Tri County Tech and GED at the age of 36. During her time in school she was extremely proud of her perfect attendance. Following graduation Pat worked at the nursing home for several years before gaining employment with R.B. Dick Conner Correctional Facility in Hominy, Oklahoma. During her time there she met the love of her life Stanley Sweeden. The two were united in marriage on December 16, 1994. They established their home in Hominy where she has continued to reside. Pat retired from Dick Conner Facility in 2008, after seventeen years of service. Pat then began working at the Hominy Family Health Clinic where she was currently employed. Pat loved to spend time with her family. She and Stanley loved to travel and spent many days going to Branson, Texas and many other locations throughout the United Sates. Christmas time was a joyous time for Pat. She would always begin decorating in October and loved the giving time of year. Pat was one of the first ladies to start the Red Hat Society in Hominy, Oklahoma. She also was a host family for four different foreign exchange students in Hominy and still had contact with each one. Pat was very proud of the fact that she made a big impact on her niece Naudia Cole who she helped raise. One quote that Pat would often refer to was ìAinít No Hill for a Climber.î Survivors are her son Pete Artussee of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; two daughters Adrian Horn of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Becca Maker and her husband Chris of Hominy, Oklahoma; step son Stanley Sweeden and his wife Anna of San Antonio, son in law Jason Horn of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; two brothers Larry Cole and his wife Marilyn of El Reno, Oklahoma; Patrick Warren Cole, Jr. and his wife Alta of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, eleven grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents Patrick, Sr. and Virginia Cole, husband Stanley Robert Sweeden, one brother Martin Eugene Cole and one granddaughter Ginny Nicole Horn. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Osage Cemetery in Osage, Oklahoma with Pastor Bud Tibbles officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Chris Maker, David Kennedy, Jason Horn, DaRell Guess, Brian Brower and Joe Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Maker and Corby Sorrells.
