Elma Lorraine Kuykendall known to her family and friends as “Pat’ passed from this life on October 5, 2020, at the age of 87 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Pat was born on May 12, 1933, in Greene County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Elmer and Thelma (Haferkamp) Loper. Pat grew up and attended school in Ferndele, Michigan where she graduated high school. Following high school Pat attended court stenographer classes. She later moved to Detroit, Michigan and worked at AAA Insurance. In January of 1957, she and Daniel “Tuffy” moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. She later accepted employment for a short time with Kelly Girls Temp Service and also worked at a local car dealership. Soon after that Pat accepted a position with Invalco where she worked for over 26 years before she took a position at Central Area Vo-Tec at Drumright where she retired in 1998.
Pat had several things she loved doing. One of them was reading and being at church. She had the best of both worlds for many years because she worked as the church librarian for many years. Pat also enjoyed taking trips with her family and going to Sonic for their onion rings. Sundays after church was also a special time for Pat especially when she could go to Judy Ann’s Restaurant for lunch. Pat is described as the “matriarch” of the family. Pat has been a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Mannford.
Survivors include three children Kathy Kuykendall of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Susan Elaine Williams of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Stephen Kuykendall and his wife Renai of Mannford, Oklahoma, sisters Marilyn Loper of New Port Richey, Florida; Sharon Jones of Royal Oak, Michigan, sixteen grandchildren Shannon, Tracy, Rikki, Chad, Carol, Lacy, Shelly, Lori, Angie, Eugenia, Melissa, Josh, Cody, Nick, Dustin, Sam, thirty three great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Daniel “Tuffy” Kuykendall, two children Danny Kuykendall, Donna Summerall and sister Beverly Loper.
Services will be held 10:30 am, Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Mannford with Pastors Clayton Paslay and James Beck officiating the services. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery at Mannford, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
