Pamela Gayle Edgerton

Pamela Gayle Edgerton passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018, in McAlester, Oklahoma at the age of 64 years and seven months.

Pamela was born November 8, 1953, in Christopher, Illinois. She was the daughter of John and Dorothea (Coates) Hicks. Pam moved to Hominy, Oklahoma as a young child where she began her education later graduating with the Class of 1972. Shortly after high school, Pam was united in marriage Donald L. Edgerton on December 17, 1972. The couple made their home in Cleveland, Oklahoma for many years. Pamela attended TCC and received her nursing degree later finishing as a Registered Nurse. In 2000, Pam began working at St. John Hospital in the surgical intensive care unit. Following Brad's accident, Pam quit working to take care of him. Her experience as a nurse was very beneficial due to the fact of getting him back to a normal life. Pam and Don moved to McAlester where they have continued to reside. In 2006, Pam returned to work and accepted a position with McAlester Regional Hospital. In 2012, she retired due to medical reasons.

Pam's pride and joy were her husband and raising her boys. They were her number one priority. She loved following them thru sports, especially wrestling. Pam enjoyed tending to her house. Pete’s place in Krebbs was one of her favorite places to go. She also felt that her mother in law Donna was very much her mother and always looked forward to being with her. Pam’s favorite thing was to take care of Don her husband who she loved dearly.

Survivors are husband Donald of the home, two sons Bradley Edgerton of McAlester, Oklahoma, Matthew Edgerton and his wife Ashlynn of McAlester, Oklahoma; step brother John D. Hicks of Padre Island, Texas; two granddaughters Kyra, Brittany, mother in law Donna Edgerton of Cleveland, Oklahoma. Pamela was preceded in death by her parents John and Dorothea Hicks, son Don Edgerton, father in law John Edgerton.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, June 15, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Cleveland Oklahoma with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Family and friends may visit an online memorial website at www.chapman-black.com
