Ortha Mae Taylor passed from this life on Friday, February 12, 2016, at her home in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 98 years, seven months and five days.

Ortha was born near the Boston Pool Oil Camp in Osage County on July 7, 1917. Ortha attended school in Cleveland where she later graduated. On September 15, 1937, Ortha was united in marriage to Ira Taylor. Soon after their marriage the couple moved to California where they remained until 1945, at that time they returned to the Cleveland area. Ortha and Ira resided south of Cleveland until 1961, when they moved to Ellinwood, Kansas. Ortha lived in Kansas until 1998. Following the death of Ira, Ortha then moved back to Cleveland where she has continued to reside.

Ortha and Ira were active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Canby, Oregon for many years. Ortha enjoyed quilting, reading, as well as growing flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games. Ortha is described as fiesty as well as having a good sense of humor. Ortha was a very kind, loving and generous to everyone she was around. She was also very proud to be from Oklahoma. Ortha experienced some major events in her life and was still able to maintain her sense of humor. Ortha was devoted to her family and loved talking about each and every one of their accomplishments. Ortha loved growing tomatoes and green onions and mostly loved eating them when it was time. Ortha will always be remembered for her spark, spunk and spirit.

Survivors are her two daughters Phyllis Ellison of Grapevine, Texas, Paula Taylor of Kyle, Texas; three brothers James Crider of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Robert Crider of Farmersville, Texas, Donald Crider of Prague, Oklahoma; three sisters Lucille Hensen of Camby, Oregon, Christine Giles of Shattuck, Oklahoma, Donna McAllister of Pawnee, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Kevin Doll and his wife Jennifer Connor of St Paul, Minnesota, Nicole Doll of New York City, New York as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Ortha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ira Taylor in May of 1998, son Darrel Leon Taylor, daughter Carol Sissom, grandson Michael Minix, granddaughter Jessica Minix; two brothers Loyd and David Crider, three sisters Dorothy Gilley, Erma Harvey and Betty Crosson.

Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Rose Rock Hospice, Tulsa.
