As a young girl Opal attended school at Rigsby, Sand Springs and later graduated from Cleveland High School. Following high school Opal was united in marriage to William Edward Leake on June 28, 1952, by Rev. Ed Zickefoose in Keystone, Oklahoma. Following the couples marriage Opal remained in the Cleveland area while Bill was called to serve his country. Opal later moved to California where Bill was stationed. Soon after that in 1955, Opal and Bill returned to Oklahoma. The couple resided in Cleveland, Hominy and Sand Springs before moving to their current home in Cleveland in 1962. Her last place of employment was as a secretary for an insurance company in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Opal had many things she enjoyed doing which included crocheting, reading books and watching westerns on television. She also loved to bake, especially pies and was famous for her chicken and noodles. Opal and Bill enjoyed fishing and traveling together. The couple visited many places during their marriage and always enjoyed going to Eureka Springs, Branson, anywhere in the Rocky Mountains, as well as Skiatook Lake. Opal has been a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Opal always enjoyed the time spent with her family and especially her great grandchildren who she loved dearly. Above all she was the best mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother our family could have been blessed with.
