Church Services for life long resident Oletha F. Annett will be held 2:00 pm Friday, March 11, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Mingus officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home Oletha was born on May 12, 1914 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Charles Ray and Lydia Belle (Rains) Hall. As a young girl, Oletha was raised and received her education in Cleveland where she later graduated from high school. Following high school Oletha was united in marriage to Henley Sanders Annett on June 10, 1933 at the Methodist Parsonage in Pawnee, Oklahoma. The couple established their home in Cleveland and began working side by side at the Annett Furniture Company. The two later purchased the business in the fall of 1955 and operated it together until November 14, 1974. Oletha still remained active in the business going with the new owner to market yearly as well as giving her advice about the operations. Oletha later in 1984 retired from the daily activities at the furniture store. Oletha was a very unique lady who always enjoyed being around people and the comradery of a good conversation. Oletha devoted numerous hours to her church, the First United Methodist Church, which she loved dearly. She was active as the chairman of the Memorial Fund for twenty years, choir member, youth choir director for over twenty years, chairman of the worship committee, United Methodist Women, as well as held all of the offices of the church at one time or another. Oletha delighted in serving her community as a member of the Cleveland Hospital Auxillary, auxiliary member and a volunteer for the Pawnee County Area Free Health Clinic. Oletha was a pillar of the community that will be dearly missed. Oletha F Annett passed from this life on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of ninety-six years, nine months and twenty six days old. Survivors are her one sister Othelia Shepley Smith of Cleveland, Oklahoma, nieces Linda Garroutte and her husband Kenneth of Prue, Oklahoma, Regina East of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Gloria Tankersley and her husband Dalton of Hico, Texas; nephews Stephen Shepley and his wife Elizabeth of Prue, Oklahoma, Charles East of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lowery Hall and his wife Pam of Gorham, New Hampshire and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents, Oletha was preceded in death by her husband Henley S. Annett, three brothers Willis Hall, Thomas Hall, Doyle Hall, two sisters Oneita Hall, Geraldine East and a nephew Duane Hall. A special thank you and a token of appreciation is expressed to the Sojurn Hospice, Vella Goodman, Judy Martin Catherine Greenlee and Yvonne Damron for their devotion, care and respect that has been given to Oletha. Pallbearers will include Hoot Newcomb, Jim Pogue, Robert Annett, Keith Garroutte, David Annett, Earl Littlefield and Bob Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Garroutte, Steve Shepley, Chuck East and Larry Annett.
