Odis Mack Sweeden, 87, passed from this life on June 16, 2022, at the age of 87 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Mack was born on August 18, 1934, at Muskogee, Oklahoma the son of Odis Lee and Willa Mae (Cobb) Sweeden. Mack grew up in Muskogee attending school there until the 7th grade. Mack's father was transferred to Osage and moved the family to Osage, Oklahoma where he later graduated from high school with the Class of 1952. Following high school Mack joined the United States Navy initially serving four years. Upon his honorable discharge, Mack returned to Cleveland and began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone. Then in January of 1963, Mack was united in marriage to Elwanda Faught in Pawhuska, Oklahoma establishing their home in Osage and to that union there is one daughter Sandra. Mack later returned to the United States Navy in August of 1963 serving until January of 1982. Gunners Mate First Class Odis Mack Sweeden was honorably discharged following twenty-one years of naval service. After retirement Mack returned to Osage and later accepted a position with Dick Connors Correctional Facility. Mack worked at the facility from 1982 until 2002 when he retired as a Captain. In December of 1989, Mack was united in marriage to Tamarra Kaye Minnette initially residing in Hominy later moving to Cleveland in the late 1990's.

Mack enjoyed going to the Cleveland Lounge and visiting with his friends or sitting at home listening to vinyl records. During his younger days Mack played softball and basketball. Watching westerns and sports were always exciting times especially when OU was playing.

Survivors are his daughter Sandra Balentine and her husband Jerry Dean of Hominy, Oklahoma; son John Paul Weber of Henderson, Kentucky; daughter Julie Alvey of Evansville, Indiana; one sister Carol Martin of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren Jamie and Dustin Valois, Megan Weber, Madison Weber, Nicholas Tinsley; great grandchildren Myah, Cade, Dusti, Logan Valois and baby Edwards on the way as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Mack was preceded in death by his parents Odis and Willa Mae Sweeden, wife Tammie Sweeden, two brothers Stanley Sweeden, James Ray Sweeden and furbaby Bandit.

Graveside services will be held 2:30 pm, Monday, June 20, 2022, in the Chapel of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Friends and family may visit an online guest book and memorial page for Mack at www.chapman-black.com.
