Norma was born on May 2, 1932 in rural Osage, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ira Lewis, Sr. and Elsie (Wilson) Hulet. As a young girl Norma was raised in the Osage area where she began her education. She later graduated from Osage High School in 1950. Following graduation Norma was united in marriage to Buck Austin Dixon in Cleveland, Oklahoma on August 9, 1950. The couple soon began traveling the United States due to the fact Buck worked in the pipeline industry. They have lived in many parts of the United States and have always considered Hominy there home where they have lived since 1960. Norma was an avid sports fan. She loved watching all sports especially baseball. Norma also enjoyed going to the games of her children and grandchildren and was their biggest fan. Norma had a knack for making ìRed Cakeî that was her specialty which no one has had the ability to reproduce. Norma and Buck also enjoyed the times they could go fishing together especially for crappie. Most of all in life Norma was a loving and caring mother. She would make certain that her children and family always had what they needed even if it meant she would do without. Another milestone in NormaÃs life was on April 12, 1946 as a young girl she gave her life to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Norma Jean Dixon passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at her home in Hominy, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years four months and four days. Survivors are her husband Buck Dixon of the home, four children Jim Austin Dixon and wife June of Yukon, Oklahoma, Barry Lynn Dixon of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Brent Lewis Dixon and wife Terry Ann of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Julie Darlene Dixon of Hominy, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren Chad, Doug, Darren, Andrew, Dinah, Daniel, Bridget, Hannah nine great grandchildren Kelsie, Kamryn, Sydney, London, Dylan, Brooklyn, Gerick, Delainy, Maelyn as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Berlin, Hearold, Ira Jr. known as "Shot" and Jack Hulet as well as a sister sister Alma Dean Swanson. Church Services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Church of Christ in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Doug Dingley officiating. Burial will follow in the Osage Cemetery in Osage, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
