Graveside services for Noel Hercle Dickey, a resident of Sand Springs will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, March 29, 2007 in the Sinnett Cemetery with Pastor Dan Edens officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
Noel was born January 8, 1921 in Bass, Arkansas to William Brian and Eunice Mae (Sissom) Dickey. As a young man Noel moved with his family to Elmore City, Oklahoma. After a short time in Southeastern Oklahoma the family moved to the Old Keystone area. On October 1, 1943, Noel joined the U.S. Navy. He served his country in the Southern Pacific as a Construction Builder with the 89th, 128th and the 144th CB's. After a honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy on December 19, 1945, Noel returned to the Tulsa Area. He then gained employment with a local company and soon moved to Oregon. He accepted a position in the local logging and milling industry in Independence, Oregon as a sander and sorter. Mr. Dickey later returned to Cleveland and soon returned to Sand Springs. While residing in Sand Springs, Noel began working a Hissom Care Center where he later retired.
Mr. Dickey passed away Monday, March 26, 2007 at the Cimarron Pointe Nursing Home in Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years 2 months and 18 days. He was preceded in death by his father William Bryan Dickey, mother Eunice Mae Norwood and one brother Haskell Dickey.
Survived by his five children, Christine Ford of Abilene, Texas; Bobbie Gibson of Idaho; Bill Dickey of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Don Dickey of Salem, Oregon; Kellie Wilson of Oregon; one brother, Noland Dickey of Mannford, Oklahoma; two sisters, Rheba Moss of Buffalo, Missouri; Ruby Stegall of Hallett, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, one step son, Eddie Story of Prattville, Oklahoma as well as a host of other great grandchildren relatives and friends.
