Nannie Cornellia Carithers

Nannie Cornellia Carithers (Mama), age 90 of Cleveland, died peacefully in her daughter's home in Maramec, Oklahoma on Saturday, August 20, 2005. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Cleveland on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating. Graveside services followed at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland. Arrangement were entrusted to Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Nannie was born on July 12, 1915 in Fork Shoals, South Carolina to John Thomas and Nannie Mae (Brown) Meeks. She worked as a seamstress for many years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and sewing for her family. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.

Survivors include four sisters, Sara Augustus Alverson of South Carolina, Nellie Deree Leathers of Florida, Vera McLinda Armstrong of South Carolina and Rose Anner Burden of South Carolina; one daughter, Rachel Waldrop Curtis of Cleveland; granddaughter, Freddie Darlene McDonald of Cleveland; four great grandchildren, Troce Rachelle Ward of Mannford, Oklahoma, Danny Ray Curtis II of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Stephanie Darlene Toon of New Jersey and Chase Edward McDonald of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three great great-grandchildren, Dakota Delane Ward of Mannford, Oklahoma, Randi Rachelle Ward of Mannford, Oklahoma and Morgane Elizabeth Curtis of Cleveland, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her brother, James Wilson Meeks and a grandson, Danny Ray Curtis.
