Nancy Jo Nagel was born September 28, 1936 in Turon, Kansas the daughter of Tecumseh and Jesse (Kennedy) Black. As a young girl Nancy moved with her family from Turon, Kansas to Cleveland, Texas where she was raised and received her education. At the completion of her education Nancy was united in marriage to Beamon Crawford Lawrence in 1953. After thier marriage the couple established thier home in Cleveland where they remained for several years. Then in the late 1960's Nancy moved to the Conroe/Houston area until December of 2007. During the time there she worked at Church's Chicken in Houston and the Texaco Convience Store at the Hotel area in Conroe for many years. Nancy moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma in December of 2007 tp be closer to her daughter. Later in life Nancy began crocheting and also enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers. Nancy Jo Nagel, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at her home in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years old. Survivors are her children Teresa Garza of Maramec, Oklahoma, Beamon Lawrence of Nashville, Tennessee, Patricia Ross of Crockett, Texas, Diane Hair of Conroe, Texas, one brother Ronald Black of North Carolina, twenty eight grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Donald Ray Black and a infant sister Mary Patricia Black. Memorial services for Nancy will be held at a later date. The body was cremated under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
