Myrtle Jane Lewis

Jane Lewis, 98, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 12, 2010 at the Southern Hills Nursing Center. Myrtle Jane Lewis was born October 30, 1911 in Prairie City, Oregon. She was the daughter of John Franklin and Clara Marie (Richter) Hinchman. As a young girl Jane was raised in Oregon until later moving with her family to California. Jane later graduated from Dunsmuir High School in Dunsmuir, California. On February 17, 1934, Jane was united in marriage to Arthur Edward Lewis on February 17, 1934 in Redding, California. The couple made their initial home in California until 1969. Following Arthurís retirement they moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma. Jane continued to reside in Cleveland until 2002 and then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be closer to her daughter. Jane was a very active part of the First United Methodist Church serving in various capacities for the church. Jane loved to paint sceneries. She was active in the Cleveland Senior Citizens and worked hard during Memorial Day for their fund raising efforts selling flowers. Jane enjoyed going fishing with Arthur and would go and sit and read books. Survivors are her daughter Mary Dolores Hughes of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren Janie Ann, Sherrie Lynne, Justin Edward, Maureen Elaine, Mary Blythe; nine great-grandchildren Stephanie, Katie, Jacob, John, Jessica, Hayden, Cameron, Grace and Hope as well as a host of other friends. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Edward Lewis on August 23, 1995. Graveside services will be held 4:00 pm Friday, September 17, 2010 at Woodland Cemetery Chapel with Rev. David Wiggs officiating under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
