Funeral services for Myrtle Elsie Donalson will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the sanctuary of the Western Heights Baptist Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Scott Donalson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery in Hallett, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Myrtle was born on May 20, 1923 in Covington, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Everett and Rosa Grace (Black) Herrian. As a young girl Myrtle grew up in the Lela and Morrison, Oklahoma area. She attended a one room school and later graduated from Glencoe. Following graduation Myrtle was united in marriage to Dave Donalson on December 28, 1941. The couple moved to several different places after their marriage since Dave was working as a telephone line installer. The job took them from Texas and west to California and the completion of the job; they soon returned to the Lela area and began a family. In 1948, they bought property near Jennings where she was currently living. After her children were raised Myrtle decided to join the work force. She loved children so much that she began working at the First Christian Church Day Care in 1977. She continued working at the church until her retirement in 1987. Even though Myrtle retired from taking care of children she continued tending to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. This gave her the opportunity of a life time to spend quality time with each one of her grandchildren. Myrtle loved to quilt, work in her garden as well as can the fruits and vegetables that she grew. Myrtle also had many chickens and several head of cattle. She enjoyed working outside and sharing her garden with friends and family. Fourth of July was a special time for her; she enjoyed getting the family together cooking as well as watching fireworks. Myrtle was a devoted and faithful member of the Hallett Baptist Church for many years. One thing that Myrtle always made sure of was that each of her children and grandchildren always had a birthday card with money. Myrtle Donalson passed from this life on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the age of age 87 years old at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Survivors include her five children Barbara Ward of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Shirley Sellers of Mesa, Arizona, David Donalson of Jennings, Oklahoma, Sharol Seitz and her husband Steve of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Patsy Wollschlager of Jennings, Oklahoma; special family member Linda McElheney of Jennings, Oklahoma; daughter in law Sheila Donalson; one sister Rena Sanders of Pawnee, Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, special nephews George and Tommy Kegin as well as a host of other relatives and friends that mourn her passing. In addition to her parents Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Dave Donalson, two children Jerry Donalson and an infant son Leroy; five brothers and one sister.
