Morrison Lee Shaw, longtime resident of Hominy, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Friday, March 4, 2016, at age of 69 years old while under hospice care.
Lee was born June 30, 1946, in Greenfield, Missouri. He was the son of Norman Morrison and Martha Lee (Garner) Shaw. As a young man Lee moved with his parents to Piedmont, Kansas. Where he attended school and later graduated from Piedmont High School. Following high school Lee helped his parents work on the farm and soon enlisted with the National Guard. He was later called to active duty during the Vietnam War on May 13, 1968. Lee served his country with the 169th Engineer Company of the Fifth Battalion of the United States Army. During his time in the US Army Lee obtained the following decoration and citations: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device 60. Lee returned to Kansas and was honorably discharged on December 12, 1969.
Upon his return Lee returned to work as a farmer and in the early 1970’s, began working in the oil field. He soon moved to Oklahoma and was later united in marriage to Matina Ann Yenzer on June 23, 1977, the couple established their home in Hominy, raising three children, Christopher, Ronald, and Mary Ann. During his time in the oil field Lee worked for Tyler Well Service, Melvin Acott, Jr, John Cassidy Company and last for Southland Energy for over 20 years when he retired in 2008.
Lee enjoyed fishing in lakes and ponds for bass. He and Matina enjoyed riding motorcycles and were members of the Gold Wing Riding Association. Lee and Matina took many trips with friends including a memorable trip to the Royal Gorge area of Colorado. Lee was also very active with the Boy Scouts of America and Troop Leader of Troop 3 in Hominy for many years. He was a very avid University of Oklahoma Sooner fan. He also enjoyed watching old westerns and the SciFi Channel on television. Lee also enjoyed working on old cars.
Survivors are his daughter and her husband, Mary Ann and Scott Rainbolt of Jenks, Oklahoma, three sons Christopher Lee and Lesa Stewart of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Ronald Lee Shaw and wife, Tara of Wynona, Oklahoma, Russell Shaw and his wife Brandy of Eureka, Kansas; two sisters Kathy Ward of Mulvane, Kansas, LeAnn Wells of Piedmont, Kansas; grandchildren, Kalob Stewart, Riley Shaw, Samuel Shaw, Eli Shaw, Parker Rainbolt, Allanah Rainbolt, Harley, Cole Quesada, Kenneth Shaw, Jamil Shaw, Cita Shaw, Brittney Shaw, and Rustin Shaw; one great grandson Grayson Quesada as well as many other relatives and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, wife Matina in March of 2014 and a daughter Brenda Shaw.
Chapel services will be held 4:00 pm Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
