Monty Junior Bishop, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, in Muskogee Veterans Medical Center at the age of 77 years, one month and nineteen days. Monty was born April 16, 1937, in Bud, West Virginia. He was the son of William Harrison and Opal Ruby (McKinney) Bishop. As a young child Monty grew up in Bud and later completed his education in Herndon, West Virginia. Soon after high school Monty joined the United States Air Force. Following the completion of his basic training he was stationed in Salina, Kansas. During his time in Salina he met the love of his life; Loretta Jessie Othella Mills. On July 9, 1956, the couple was united in marriage in Prague, Oklahoma. Following his discharge on in 1957, the couple moved to Prague where he gained employment with the City of Prague. In 1958, Monty and Loretta moved to Seminole and Monty began working for the Canadian Valley Electric. Later in 1962, the couple moved to Ontario, California. During his time in California, Monty worked at the Aamco as well as a local vending company. In 1969, Monty and Loretta returned to Oklahoma and moved to Hominy, Oklahoma. During that time Monty accepted a position with Riverside Steel in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Monty always loved working on autos and he soon began working for Kenneth Boyles as an auto mechanic. Monty also worked at Osage Oil as a mechanic for many years before accepting a job with the City of Cleveland in 1995. Monty worked for the city until his retirement in 2007. Monty had many hobbies including fishing and camping, however his favorite thing to do was spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a fanatic about his yard always wanting it to look spectacular. Survivors are his wife Loretta of the home, four children Kelly Malmsten and her husband Danny of Port Salerno, Florida, Montie Bishop and his wife Robin of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Lorie Bias and her husband Jesse of Fairmont, Oklahoma, Shari Nicholas of Vinita, Oklahoma; one brother Wayne Bishop and his wife Louise of Bud West, Virginia; seven sisters Betty Mills of Basin, West Virginia, Lola McKinney of West Virginia, Velma Whitt and her husband Eugene of Basin, West Virginia, Judy Lambert and her husband Ben Goforth of North Carolina, Nancy Pendry and her husband Gordan of North Carolina, Mary Mullens of Herndon, West Virginia, Kathy Dunn and her husband Danny of Beckley, West Virginia; brother in law Jack Romine of Hominy, Oklahoma; brother in law, Gene Mills; fourteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. In addition to his parents, Monty was preceded in death by his brother Lee Bishop, two sisters Lindy May Reed, Dorothy Romine; son Danny Bishop; one granddaughter Chasity Bishop; two great grandchildren Destin Bias and Dalton Malmsten. Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Marcus Perryman officiating. The body was cremated under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
