Mildred Marie Ingersoll

Mildred Marie Ingersoll was born December 13, 1933 in Jennings, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Lynn Forest and Lavina (Moon) Rogers. Shortly after her birth, Mildred was given the name Middy by her father and has been called by that name her entire life. Middy was raised in Jennings and Cleveland; attending Bethel, Jennings and Cleveland schools.

As a youth, Middy was active in many activities but especially enjoyed riding her horse, Sparky and playing basketball. Although she grew up in the depression, Middy never seemed to notice the troubles of the world around her and was always happy and carefree. While growing up, Middy spent considerable time with her Grandmother Moon, whose Christian example influenced her throughout her life.

Middy was married to Wallace Ingersoll in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 25, 1958. The couple established their home in Hominy and had two daughters, Tonya and Tami. Throughout their life together, the couple was active in various activities in the Hominy community. Middy served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and served on the local Girl Scout Council. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school to the pre-school class. Middy was an avid water-skier and spent countless hours on the Hominy Lake skiing. She once was seen waterskiing on the lake on a cold February morning in her blue jeans. Middy was also a member of the P. E. O. Sisterhood and for the past few years has been a member of a local card club which met weekly on Thursday nights.

Middy loved people, especially tiny babies and the elderly. She was a fun loving person that was almost childlike in her ability to play pranks and catch friends and family by surprise. She enjoyed traveling and went on many cruises and trips which included Alaska, Ireland and Hawaii. She was extremely generous to those around her and was always looking to help someone in need.

Middy passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2005 at her home in Hominy at the age of seventy-one years, five months and twenty-two days. Wallace preceded her in death on March 13, 1995. In addition to her husband, Middy was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Forest and Ronald.

She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Tonya and husband Daryl Rosinbaum of Boerne, Texas, Tami and husband Chuck Spurgeon of Owasso, Oklahoma; two sisters, Melba Eikenbary of Jennings, Oklahoma and Margaret and husband Ray Young of Johnson Bayou, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Jared, Mallory, Kylie and Trent Spurgeon, all of Owasso, Oklahoma and Jeffrey Rosinbaum of Boerne, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 9, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in Hominy. Burial will be at the A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland.
