Mildred Lorraine Damron

Lorraine Damron, a resident of Cleveland was born June 29, 1936 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Woodrow Alford Sr. and Edna Rosa (Sears) Garrett. Lorraine was raised and received her education in Tulsa graduating from Tulsa Central High School in 1954. She then attended Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Miami, Oklahoma. On November 22, 1957 she was united in marriage James Daniel Damron, Sr in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After their marriage Lorraine and Jim made their home in Tulsa until 1978 when they moved to Disney, Oklahoma near Grand Lake. Lorraine moved to Cleveland in 1985 after Jimís death to be closer to her parents. When Lorraine moved to Cleveland she also started to substitute teach in the Cleveland School District. Lorraine was a full time grandmother and she is known to her grandchildren as ìMeMawî. She is also a member of the Friends of the Library and the Western Heights Baptist Church. Preceding her in are her father Woodrow and husband Jim.

Lorraine went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday evening January 11, 2002 at her home in Cleveland, Oklahoma with her family by her side.

Survived by her mother, Edna Garrett of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Children, Daniel Monroe & wife Taffy Damron of Edmond, Oklahoma; Gregory Allen & wife Sandy Damron, of Mashpee, Massachusetts; Teresa Kay & husband Robert Young of Burleson, Texas; Kenneth Alfred Sr. & wife Yvonne Damron of Cleveland, Oklahoma; James Daniel Jr. & wife Amy Damron of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Leigh Ann & husband Craig Sheets of Cleveland, Oklahoma; brother, Woodrow Alford Garrett, Jr. of Buford, Georgia; three sisters, Gwendolyn Ruth Brooks of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Mary Margaret Carroll of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Rosa Mae Padgett of Claremore, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Brandon Damron, Kimberly, Scott & Kyle Damron, Gerry & Nicole James, Lori James, Kristian Young, Katie & Ronnie Blanton, Kenneth Jr, Cheyenne, Karla &, Kelly Damron, Eric, A.J. & Allyssa Sheets, Great Grandchild, Britany Blanton

Services will be held Monday, January 14, 2002 at 10:00 AM in the Western Heights Baptist Church Sanctuary with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will follow at the Spavinaw- Strang Cemetery in Spavinaw, Oklahoma at 2:00 pm under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
