Mickey D. Sparks was born August 22, 1956 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.' He was the son of Doug and Jean (Thigpen) Sparks.' Mickey was raised in his early childhood in Little Rock, Arkansas and attended grade school there.' He moved with his family in 1967 to Mannford where he attended Mannford Schools for a couple of years before the family relocated to Terlton.' After attending Terlton schools through the eighth grade, Mickey transferred to Cleveland where he was a varsity letterman in football and a member of the Future Farmers of America, graduating in 1974.' ' After graduation, Mickey operated a backhoe for Cleveland PreFab for a couple of years before accepting a position with the Williams Companies as a consultant.' Mickey was married to Janet Williams in 1976 and the couple was married for nearly twenty-five years; having three children, Lyndsey, Ty and Ashley. In 1981, Mickey began and established his own company, Power Swivels, providing drilling equipment to companies throughout the State of Oklahoma.' He operated this company out of Cleveland for a few years before he started a new company, Oklahoma Tool Company. In this capacity his company extended its capability to provide oil well machinery, equipment, and supplies to drilling and oil well companies in Northeastern Oklahoma.' He continued to operate Oklahoma Tool until 1993 when he sold the company.' At that time, Mickey through his extensive knowledge of the oil and gas business started his own oil and gas production company and has continued to operate it until the time of his death. Mickey was described by his family as an extremely kind and good natured person who loved his children and grandchildren very much. Mickey was known by his grandchildren as Papa Mick. He also displayed an enormous love for his mother and admiration for his father.' He was always counted on by his family to set up family functions and ensure everything was in order for their times together. He exhibited a wonderful sense of humor and often enjoyed telling jokes to his friends and family.' He was respected for his knowledge of the oil and gas production business and had a strong network of friends and colleagues. ' ' Mickey was married to Beverly Parham on June 29, 2002 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The couple has made their home in Tulsa until the time of his passing on Friday, March 25, 2011. His hobbies included grilling; he loved to get his family together and prepare meals for them. Additionally he enjoyed hunting, both quail and pheasants and he was an avid attendee at auctions.' He has an extensive collection of antique pocket watches as well as other antiques.' He primarily just enjoyed collecting things.' He also enjoyed watching Western movies. Mickey is survived by his wife, Beverly Sparks of Tulsa Oklahoma; parents, Doug and Jean Sparks of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three children and their spouses, Lyndsey and Blake Flewellen of Drumright, Oklahoma; Ty and Jeana Sparks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Ashley and Mike Edgerton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two step-children, Brandon Mashburn and Lance Cox; thirteen grandchildren, Taylor Mires, Ainsley Flewellen, Kayla Mires, Addie Flewellen, Macey Edgerton, Codi Sparks, Molly Flewellen, Ty Sparks, McKinley Edgerton, Ellison Edgerton, Dax Mashburn, Kaiden Cox and Christian Cox; five brothers, Greg Sparks, Terry and Sheryl Sparks, Barry and Lori Sparks, Flint and Patti Sparks and Brian and Allyson Sparks; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.' '
