Michael Dean Simplins

Dr. Michael Dean Simpkins former resident of Jennings, Oklahoma passed away at his home in Portland, Oregon February 12, 2003 at age of 54 years 11 months and 13 days.

Memorial Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Jennings on Monday February 17, 2003.

Michael was born February 29, 1948 in Yale, Oklahoma to Constance (Lierley) and Ernest B. Simpkins. At a young age Michael moved to Tulsa with his mother and later at the age of fourteen he moved back with father Ernest. Michael was raised in attended school in Quay and later graduated with the Class of 1966. He then started his higher education at Oklahoma State University. While attending OSU he graduated with a Bachelor, Masters as well as a Doctorate Degree in Psychology. Upon receiving his Doctorate Michael moved to Kansas where he served his internship. While living in Kansas he also worked in the pipeline industry. After Michael completed his internship he moved to Astoria, Oregon and then later to Portland where he has resided for the past 25 years.

Michael was a ìMovie Buffî, enjoyed listening to music, traveling as well as an avid OSU Fan. Michael was preceded in death by mother a half brother Melvin Doyle.

Survived by his Father and Mother, Ernest and Phillis Simpkins of Jennings; brother Brad W. Holder of Richardson, Texas; sisters, Phyllis Jean Brandon of Carnie, Oklahoma and Erna Wray Patton of Oilton, Oklahoma and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
