Michael Anthony Pogue a life long resident of Cleveland was born October 11, 1960 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Frederick Mitchell and Mary Ruth (Spears) Pogue. Mike was raised and received his education in Cleveland graduating from Cleveland High School in 1978. While in high school Mike worked at the Ford garage and continued working there after graduation.
Mike then accepted employment with Charlie Dell in the oil field as a roustabout. Mike continued to work in the oil field for several years. In 1989 Mike started working for his brother Gary at P & P Pawnshop on West Caddo. Mike loved working at the Pawn Shop which let him do what he loved the most; talking with people and fixing guns. Mike was united in marriage to Patricia Jean Koberg in Cleveland, Oklahoma on October 13, 1990.
Mike was a member of the National Rifleman Association, the First Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as a young man, as well as an Arborist Supporter. Mike was an avid World War II Memorabilia Collector, loved traveling to flea markets and traveling for vacation. Mike also had a special relationship with two of his nephews Jonathan and Justin. Mike and Pat would take them on picnics, bicycle rides or sometimes just sitting for hours under the rail road bridge waiting for the train to arrive. MikeÃs most memorable vacation was the one to Germany. He was able to visit the World War II sites and museums as well as getting to see his nephews.
Mike passed away Saturday, May 7, 2005 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 44 years 6 months and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his father on May 30, 1989 as well as a brother Ricky.
Surviving are his loving wife Pat of the home; mother Mary Ruth Pogue of Cleveland, Oklahoma; brother Gary and his wife Susan Pogue of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sister Debra and her husband Ralph Mangrum of Ponca City, Oklahoma; nephews Joshua Pogue, Jonathan Hamlin, Justin Hamlin, Bradley Koberg, Matthew Koberg, David Mangrum, nieces Misty Nuttle, Lori Adams; great nephews Jacob Pogue, Jacob Adams, David Ballard, Austin Nuttle, Christian Adams; great nieces, Nicole Ballard, Kerri Nuttle as well as numerous other relatives and friends
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 10:00 am in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
