Memorial services For Melvin Jerry Wills, Sr. will be held 11:00 am Friday January 26, 2007 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma with Rev. Harold Thompson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.

Melvin was born June 8, 1938, in Enid, Oklahoma to Theodore and Rosie (Richey) Wills. As a young man Melvin grew up in Pond Creek where he attended school. After Mr. Wills graduated from high school in 1957 he began working in Enid, Oklahoma. He was employed at several different jobs before accepting a position with Farmland Feed Mill in the mid 1960ís. On August 4, 1968 Mr. Wills was united in marriage to Donna G. (Barney). Melvin continued to work at the feed mil until the early 1980ís. At that time he began working for the Enid State School until the closure of the institution. Mr. Wills soon accepted a position with Healyís Southwest/Marble and Granite. Melvin worked as an installer of tile and granite until his retirement in the summer of 2000.

Mr. Wills enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma University Football. In 2001 Melvin began showing the signs and symptoms of Alzheimerís. He also loved to fish, hunt and bowl until Alzheimerís took over his health. Melvin was a intelligent, hard working happy and go lucky man who loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. Melvin was a member of the Nazarene Church in Pond Creek.

He passed away January 22, 2007 at Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years 7 months and 14 days. He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers Gene and Leroy Wills, one sister Caroline Osborn, step son Rodney Phillips.

Survived by his loving wife, Donna, of the home; one son Melvin Jerry Wills, II of Omaha, Nebraska; two daughters, Janet Herde of Omaha, Nebraska; Sheryl White of Oregon; one sister Mary Thompson of Poteau, Oklahoma; one brother Bob Wills of Enid, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
