Melissa Bellamy

Funeral services for Melissa Lee Bellamy, 22 of Cushing, Oklahoma will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 21, 2007 in the Bethany Cemetery with Rev. Dan Edens officiating. Interment will also be in the Bethany Cemetery in Jennings, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.

Lissa was born November 30, 1984 in Pawnee, Oklahoma the daughter of Elizabeth Jean (Jones) Thornburg and Matthew John Bellamy. As a young girl Lissa grew up and began grade school in Cleveland. Lissa continued her education thru the 11 grade at Cleveland High School. She then moved to Cushing, Oklahoma where she graduated in May of 2003. After graduation Lissa took a class offered at Resthaven Nursing Center to become a Certified Nurses Aide. Upon the completion of the class she was offered a position with the company. This opportunity allowed Lissa the chance to give the love and affection to the residents in the Special Needs Unit.

Lissa was a very forgiving person. She was also one to never judge a person due to their outward appearance or carry a grudge. She loved to spend her time writing poetry. Lissa was also one that enjoyed being around other people. She also enjoyed things that were mystical as well as magical.

Lissa passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007 in Cushing, Oklahoma at the age of 22 years 2 months and 17 days. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal great grandparents and grandfather John Walter Jones, Sr.

Survived by her mother, Beth Thornburg of Cushing, Oklahoma; father, Matthew Bellamy of Cleveland, Oklahoma; maternal grandmother, Judy Mize of Cushing, Oklahoma; paternal grandmother, Effie Jane Bellamy of Cleveland, Oklahoma; paternal grandfather, Edward O. Bellamy of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one sister, Bryany Ann Thornburg of Cushing, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
