Mary Perryman

Mary Louise Perryman was born on November 24, 1927, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Edward and Reginia Fink. As a young girl she grew up in Tulsa attending school at Springdale Elementary, Cleveland Junior High and later graduating from Tulsa Central with the class of 1945. She was united in marriage on August 6, 1944, to the love of her life, Paul Perryman. The wedding took place at Springdale Assembly of God; Sunday morning worship was halted, and the ceremony was the service for the day. Following their marriage Paul returned to his U.S. Army duty station and she traveled with Evangelist Mae Starling. She provided music and singing in the services they held, traveling in the Ozark Mountain area of Missouri. Mary also served as secretary of the Lewis Avenue Assembly of God, Lincoln Income Life offices, and the Horace Mann Junior High in Tulsa. She attended college at Tulsa University and obtained her bachelor’s degree in business education. She returned to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah completing her Master’s Degree in 1975. Mary began teaching business education at Berryhill High School in the fall of 1965, and taught her entire career there.

During their retirement, she and Paul traveled the region with R.V. MAPS, an arm of the home missions department of the Assemblies of God. Following the sale of their R.V. they continued traveling until it was no longer practical. Playing the piano was very special to her. She has been the pianist or organist for several church’s since she was twelve years old. Mary also played the piano for the Temple Quartet. She has been an active part of her church for many years and enjoyed teaching Sunday School to young married couples.
