Mary Faye Welch, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on Monday, February 27, 2012 at her home peacefully at the age of eighty-one years. Mary was born July 2, 1930 in Cleveland, Oklahoma; the daughter of Martin Jacob and Mary Melissa Iza Dora (Lay) Rogers. As a young girl Mary grew up and attended school Cleveland. Upon the completion of her education Mary met Edgar Roy Welch at the CainÃs Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma and eight days later the couple was united in marriage on May 24, 1948, in Springfield, Missouri. The couple established their initial home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mary and Ed had lived in many different places however they always returned to Cleveland. In 1968, Mary began working for L & M Manufacturing in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mary worked for the company for over twenty-fife years when she initially retired in 1993. Following her retirement, Mary was unable to be sedentary and started working out of her home for a short time. She soon returned to work at L & M and donated her time to the company. Ed later became ill and Mary retired a second time to take care of him; he proceeded her in death on December 30, 1996. Mary had many favorite things to do in her pastime including crossword puzzles, attending church at Freewill Baptist Church as well as going to garage sales weekly. Most of all in life Mary loved spending time with her family and waiting on her daily telephone calls from her children. Survivors are her son Bill Welch and his wife La Donna of Wagoner, Oklahoma, one daughter Tonnie Sizemore of Cleveland, Oklahoma, two step daughters Linda Graham and her husband Raymond of Fort Worth, Texas, Linda Yarbrough and her husband Joe of Mounds, Oklahoma, two sisters Lucreta Wilson of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Ann Collins and her husband Neal of Cleveland, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Mary was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers O.B Rogers, Glenn Rogers, Wallace Rogers, two sisters Colleen Bell and Mildred Kilgore. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, March 2, 2012, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Conn officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
