Mary Ellon Hotson was born June 26, 1913 in Hallett, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James and Ada Belle (Turner) McMillan. Ellon was raised and received her education in Hallett.

Mary Ellon was married to Fergus Hotson on January 1, 1930. The couple made their initial home in Hallett and then moved frequently during their marriage as Mr. Hotson was a truck driver; residing in Guthrie and Covington in Oklahoma, Lousiana and Texas. The couple had three children, Teddy, Joan and Larry.

The couple was residing in Denison, Texas when Mr. Hotson passed away in Labette, Kansas while hauling mail in southeastern Kansas on July 14, 1961. Shortly after the death of her husband, Ellon moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mary worked for many years in the accounting department of Clark's Clothing Company in Tulsa.

During her time in Hallett, Mary Ellon was an active member of the Hallett Christian Church. She was a devoted christian woman that loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After moving to Tulsa. Mary became active in the Garnett Church of Christ where she was a member for many years. She loved fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ and spent countless hours reading her bible.

Mary Ellon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the Fransican Villa in Tulsa at the age of ninty-two years, three months and twenty days. In addition to her husband, Ellon was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Joan Morton; three brothers, Luther, Virgil and Sid McMillan; and a sister, Mrs. G. E. Cox.

Ellon is survived by her sons and their wives, Teddy F. and Glenda Hotson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Larry H. and Breda Hotson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Pamela and Don Sewell of Owasso, Oklahoma, Roger and Jeannie Hotson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Diana and Paul Nedlose of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Rebecca Hotson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Jimmy Schwyhart, Pastor of the Praise Assembly Deaf Church in Tulsa officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethany Cemtery in Hallett under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
