Mary Ann Sharpnack, lifelong Cleveland area resident, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of eighty-two. Mary Ann was born on January 9, 1930, at the South Field, Norman oil lease, near Cleveland, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Calvin James Sharpnack, Jr. and Emma (Lofton) Sharpnack. Mary Ann was raised and attended school in Cleveland, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1947. Upon completion of her high school education, Mary Ann attended St. John Nursing School in Tulsa for a couple of years. She returned and spent the next several years assisting in the care of her parents until they passed away; Calvin in 1975 and Emma in 1976. Mary Ann later accepted employment with the Cleveland Nursing Home where she operated the laundry until her retirement in 1984, for reasons of physical disability. She later resided in the Hominy Nursing Home for nearly twenty years before moving to the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home in 2004. Mary Ann was an avid reader and also enjoyed watching television. She attended the local Nazarene Church for many years with her parents and then later was associated with the Pentecostal Holiness Church where she often played the piano. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with David Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
