Memorial services for Marshall Waites will be held on June 3, 2017 at 2:00pm. The body was cremated under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. The family has requested donations be made to help defray funeral cost by visiting Marshall’s memorial website at www.chapman-black.com. Friends may also share a memory with the family on the same site.
Marshall Leon Waites passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his home in Jennings at the age of 58 years old.
Marshall was born August 4, 1958, in Topeka, Kansas. He is the son of Harold and Jessie (Smith) Waites. As a young child Marshall moved with his family to Alabama. He grew up and attended school in Anniston and Jacksonville, Alabama. Following the completion of his education Marshall began working in the construction business with his father. Marshall was later united in marriage to Carol in 1979. They established their home in Van Buren, Arkansas and Marshall worked at a local glass factory for several years. Following their divorce Marshall moved to Bakersfield, California where he remained until 2015. During his time in California Marshall was united in marriage to Sharon.
Marshall enjoyed cartoons especially American Dad and the Simpsons. He liked going to Terlton to the Senior Citizens and dancing. Marshall was also a practical joker and loved pulling pranks on others. He is described as a wonderful dad and brother that is loved immensely. Marshall enjoyed the opportunity to go camping and was looking forward to camping over Memorial weekend. His nieces, nephews and grandchildren were his life. Always willing to go play whenever they asked.
Survivors are his three children; Jason Long of Jennings, Oklahoma, Amanda Waites of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Noella Waites of Bakersfield, California; father Harold Waites and his wife Wanda of Cameron, Oklahoma; three siblings Richard Waites of Jennings, Oklahoma, Becky Kulp of Jennings, Oklahoma, Tammy Clark of Jennings, Oklahoma; step brothers and sisters, Danny LeCornu of Cameron Oklahoma, Janet BellaNova of Cameron Oklahoma , Patricia Barnes and husband Mike of Cameron Oklahoma and Michael LeCornu and wife Bobbie of Ridgecrest California; five grandchildren Justin, Andrew, Jacob, Abigail, Levi, nieces Autumn, Jamie, Andrea, Ashley, Tandi; nephews Rowdy and Benny as well as many other grand nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Marshal was preceded in death by his mother, wife Sharon; sister Karen Monteith and a niece Amby Dawn.
