Marilyn Starr Orcutt Grissom was born February 3, 1952 in Britton, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Theodore Wayne Orcutt, Sr. and Billie Joyce Chesney Orcutt. Marilyn moved with her family at the age of two to the Terlton area where she was raised. She attended Terlton and Mannford school, graduating from Mannford High School in 1970.
Marilyn was a gift musician and enjoyed singing, playing the keyboard and bass guitar. She played with numerous groups and band but performed annually at the Terlton Days with the Dusty Roads Band. She also worked as a waitress with her mother at Mom's CafÈ, south of Cleveland for several years. She also assisted her mother in another restaurant on Hiway 64, during the construction of Keystone Dam.
Marilyn loved animals but especially loved cats. She loved to sew and spent countless hours quilting. Marilyn was a member of the Terlton Baptist Church, having been baptized into the family of Christ as a youth.
She passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2003 at the Cimarron Pointe Nursing Center in Mannford at the age of fifty-one years, four months and five days. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joyce Robin Orcutt.
Marilyn is survived by eight brothers, Ted Orcutt, Jr., Blackwell, Oklahoma, Darrell Orcutt, Terlton, Oklahoma, Mark Orcutt, Oilton, Oklahoma, Joel Orcutt, Terlton, Oklahoma, Daniel Orcutt, Cushing, Oklahoma, Jeffery Orcutt, Ponca City, Oklahoma, Robert Orcutt, Terlton, Oklahoma and Floyd Buck Oructt, Cleveland, Oklahoma; four sisters, Sheryl Powell, Mannford, Oklahoma, Mollie Watson, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sally Murphy, Terlton, Oklahoma and Dodie Shade, Tahlequah, Oklahoma; husband, Dick Grissom; two step daughters, Michelle Grissom, Ranae Branson; and four step grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Bailey Johnson, Cory Grissom Kendall Jones, as well as numerous other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the Terlton Cemetery with Rev. Tom Thomas officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
