Marilyn was born June 27, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Chester Kenneth, Sr. and Lorene (Thompson) Allen. Marilyn grew up in Cleveland starting kindergarten and later graduating with the Class of 1964. Following graduation, Marilyn moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. She has also resided in Oklahoma City and then in 1977, returned to Cleveland. Marilyn has worked at Metal Processing as well as Centerline Pipeline before accepting a position with Enterprise Car Rental. In 1984, Marilyn moved to Cleveland where she has continued to reside. During her time in Cleveland, she has worked at the local Walmart and operated the Game Room on Main Street for several years. Marilyn also worked at the Cleveland Manor Nursing home as a caregiver retiring in the early part of 2000.
Playing on her computer, bird watching and making arts and crafts was a favorite pastime for Marilyn. She planted numerous flowers around her apartment always wanting to spruce things up in the area where she lived. Reading books was also enjoyable to Marilyn. She was a part of the Tulsa Swing Club for many years making their outfits for the performances and dancing. Most of all in life Marilyn loved being able to help others who were in need.
Survivors include her daughter Jammie Wilburn and her husband Clifton of Kellyville, Oklahoma; brother Brad Allen of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sister Janell Montgomery of Cleveland, Oklahoma; aunt Anna Lafern Brown of Cleveland, Oklahoma, nephews Ken Montgomery, Mike Allen; nieces Marsha Montgomery, Katie Allen, Sarah Beth Allen and numerous other relatives and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Kenneth Allen, Jr.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018; from 1 pm till 3 pm at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home or online at www.chapman-black.com
