Funeral services for Marie Annette Boyd, 68, of Cleveland will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in the Sanctuary of the Westport Baptist Church with Rev. Lew Ayers, Sr. and Rev. Bill Payton officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 pm in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Seminole, Oklahoma. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Annette was born September 4, 1939 in Ashdown, Arkansas the daughter of John and Mary Jane Williams. As a young girl Annette started her education in Arkansas, later moving to the Oklahoma City Area. Soon after graduating from Vo-Tech in Electronics, Annette began working for LTV University Sound in Oklahoma City. She continued working for LTV for over 5 years and was the assembly line foreman. Annette was then united in marriage to Robert Boyd on April 18, 1964 in Oklahoma City where they established their initial home. Mrs. Boyd later accepted employment with Tinker Credit Union as a loan officer. Annette and Bob later moved to Cleveland in 1983, when she accepted employment with the Bank of Oklahoma. While working for the Bank of Oklahoma, Annette was a loan officer trainer for the company from 1983 till 1987 when she retired.
Annette enjoyed sewing, oil painting, fishing and most of all singing with the Westport Quartet. She also enjoyed making ceramic dolls from start to finish and was a member of the Golden Triangle Garden Club in Westport. Annette was a faithful and devoted member of the Westport Baptist Church. Bob referred to her as "Annie Oakley", due to her abilities with a pistol and a rifle. However, Annette loved spending time with her family and friends the most.
Annette went to be with her Lord and Saviour Thursday, May 22, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 68.
Survivors are her loving husband Robert of Cleveland, Oklahoma, two daughters Vickie Rowell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Gwen Johnson and her husband Walter of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one sister, Peggy L. Boyd of Bakersfield, California, one brother, Waylin F. Lewis of Newalla, Oklahoma, six grandchildren Mitchell, Renee, Amanda, Jennifer, Robert and Joshua; twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that mourn her passing. In addition to her parents, Annette is preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Desse and two brothers, Paul L. Lewis and Thomas E. Lewis.
