Marcellene E. Arnold was born March 6, 1918 in rural Pawnee County, Oklahoma in the area known as the basin. She was the daughter of Daniel L. and Mary Alice (Bayless) Perkins. Marcellene was raised and attended school in the Terlton area, graduating from Terlton High School in 1936.
Upon completion of her high school education, Marcellene attended Business School also Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater. She was married to Vale Ervin Arnold in Mannford, Oklahoma of June 4, 1937. The couple initially resided in the Tulsa area as Mr. Arnold was working for McDonald Douglas Aircraft at the time of their marriage. The couple moved several times during Mr. Arnold's career as a tool and die maker for numerous aircraft companies, finally settling in Wichita, Kansas. During their marriage the couple raised seven children, Vail Ervin (JR), Mike, Jimmy, Anthony, Duane, Karol and Sally.
Following retirement, the couple moved to Cleveland in 1970. Marcellene dedicated her life to taking care of her husband and children. She loved to cook and bake and was famous for her banana cake with chocolate icing. She excellent musician and enjoyed playing the piano, organ and flute. When she was attending her families needs, she also enjoyed crocheting and working crossword puzzles. Marcellene loved to watch football and was an avid fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks.
Marcellene was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Vale Ervin of May 10, 1994. In addition to her husband, Marcellene was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Vail Ervin (Jr) Arnold on November 30, 2003; a brother, Sam Perkins and two sisters.
Marcellene passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of eighty-eight years, ten months and twelve days.
She is survived by four sons and their wives, Mike and Mary Arnold of Colorado City, Colorado, Jimmy and Sherma Arnold of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Tony and Connie Arnold of Wichita, Kansas and Duane and Susan Arnold of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Karol Duncan of Fort Worth, Texas and Sally and her husband, Danny Guinn of Wichita, Kansas; twenty-two grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Claudia Arnold of Flint Ridge, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, January 22, 2007 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Tracy Sheer officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Ricky Arnold, Tony Arnold, Jeff Guinn, Joey Arnold, Tommy Spencer and Prent Arnold. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
