Madie May Hodson, passed from this life on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at her home at the age of 78 years three months and seventeen days. Madie was born March 21, 1934, in Keystone, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Charles Murriel and Madie May (Besser) Zickefoose. Madie was raised in the Keystone area where she began her education. She later attended the Cleveland Schools where she graduated from high school. Following high school Madie worked several jobs including Scott Rice Office Furniture, Ward Chemical and Piping Engineering for many years. On May 22, 1974, Madie was united in marriage to Alva Ray Hodson in Miami, Oklahoma. In 1983, Madie began working for Mid-America Pipeline Company (MAPCO) where she worked until her retirement in March of 1996. After her retirement Madie began traveling with Alva following the pipeline construction throughout North America. They have traveled through nearly every state in the union as well as Canada. Madie enjoyed cooking, fishing, dancing and going to thrift stores. During the times her and Alva were traveling they really loved the times spent in Wyoming at Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Teton National Park. Christmas and Thanksgiving were her favorite times of the year. She would spend many days and hours preparing food and many loaves of her homemade light bread. If you left her home hungry it was your own fault. Madie has been a member of the Oak Hill Full Gospel Church for many years. Survivors are her husband, Alva Hodson of the home, five children Charles and Deena Swart of Jennings, Oklahoma, Monty Hodson and Norma of Terlton, Oklahoma, Annette Peterson and Doug of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Darla Kaye Champlain and husband Mike of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Paula May Thurman and Carl of Olive, Oklahoma; one sister Murrel Marie Shaeffer and husband Fred of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Sam Zickefoose and Grace of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; twenty grandchildren and thirty one great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Madie May Zickefoose nee (Besser), Charles Murriel Zickefoose, son William Swart, son Bobby Hodson, brother Charles Zickefoose, grandson Jonathon Hodson, great granddaughter Pale Shelton, great grandson Noah Brown. Church services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Oak Hill Full Gospel Church with Rev. Harrel Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Sinnet Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
