Darlene Ellis lifelong resident of Hallett, Oklahoma passed from this life on Monday, May 26, 2014, at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of 69 years two months and two days. Mildred Darlene Ellis was born on March 24, 1945, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ralph Bryan, Sr. and Ester (Madewell) Ellis. Darlene grew up on the family farm near Hallett and attended school at Quay where she later graduated. Following high school Darlene attended Draughon Business College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following the completion of her training, Darlene accepted a position with Indian Electric Cooperative as a secretary for the Engineering Department she left there to pursue a different career. She later returned to IEC in the mid 1970Ãs and continued working there until her retirement in 2001. Following retirement Darlene was able to what she loved most work at home on the family farm raising cattle, chickens and help take care of her nieces and nephews. Darlene loved being at home. She was very dedicated to her church as the secretary and treasurer for many years. Darlene has been a member of the Hallett First Baptist Church since the age of 10. She was saved as a young girl and found it was very important to share her faith with any-one she came in contact with. Darlene was a very loving and giving person always trying to help provide for others in need. She spent several years following retirement helping take care of her mother in her final days. Darlene loved to cook and would prepare anything that you requested. Darlene loved doing things for other people and especially when it involved providing for her family. Survivors are her two siblings Emma Ellis-Maupin and her husband Dennis of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Ralph Ellis, Jr. and his wife Marcie of Jennings, Oklahoma; nieces Louella Richardson of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Yvonne Damron of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Cindy Maupin of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Kelley Gappa of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kimberly Kiker of Germany, nephews Bob Ellis of Maramec, Oklahoma, Ralph Ellis, III of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jason Ellis of Phoenix, Arizona, Dewayne Maupin of Cleveland, Oklahoma, great nieces Felishae Murray of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Cheyenne Martinez of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Kelly Ingram of Cleveland, Oklahoma as well as numerous other great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents Darlene was preceded in death by her brother Clifford Ellis, nephew Earl Ellis, niece Kaelyn Skidgel, infant brother and paternal and maternal grandparents. Church services will be held 2:30 pm Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Hallett First Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Wessel officiating. Burial will follow in the IOOF Maramec Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
