Lyla Doris Franks

Lyla Doris Franks, was born November 15, 1916 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to Harry Lou and Julia Edna (Cheek) Gurney. As a young girl Lyla grew up and graduated high school from Cleveland. She was united in marriage to Sherman H. Holt on September 10, 1953. They established their home in Cleveland. After the death of Sherman on December 19, 1979, Lyla continued to reside in Cleveland. She was then united in marriage to Ralph C. Franks in Cleveland, Oklahoma on October 17, 1989.

Lyla was a registered nurse for many years working for Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mrs. Franks was a member of the First Christian Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Lyla Doris Franks, passed away January 29, 2007 in Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years 2 months and 14 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mildred Britton; two husbands, Sherman H. Holt and Ralph C. Franks.

Survived by her brother Harlen Gurney of Stroud, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Diana Alvarado of Fishers, Indiana; two granddaughters Amber Lee Small and Erin Anne Franks both of Fishers, Indiana; niece, Jan Mace of Montgomery, Alabama; two nephews, Gary and Dennis Britton as well as a host of other relatives and friends.;

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, February 1, 2007, in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
