Lula E. Wilcoxson, of Cleveland was born February 16, 1908 in Ripley, Oklahoma to William Joseph and Pearl Edith (Booth) Comer. Lula was raised and received her education in Cleveland graduating in 1926. She then went on to attend Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater receiving her teaching certificate. Lula moved back to Cleveland and started teaching grades 1st thru 8th in one room at Scrapping Ridge School south of Cleveland. On August 13, 1931 Lula and Nolan V. Wilcoxson were united in marriage at Cleveland under the arch at the entrance of the old Cleveland High School. Lula and Nolan later purchased a grocery store near Bear Creek the Old Tanner, which they operated for sometime. Nolan soon accepted employment working as a pipefitter that took them to many different places. They still maintained there home here in Cleveland and in the mid 1950's they returned making Cleveland their permanent residence once again. Lula loved to quilt, sew, reading and to work in her garden.

Lula passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 18, 2001 in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years 9 months and 2 days.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Nolan in 1976, three brothers William, Edward and Richard as well as a sister Bessie Smith.

Surviving are a son Nolan C. and wife Mary Wilcoxson, a daughter Dixie K. and husband Woody Linville all of Cleveland, Oklahoma. Three sisters Lillie Ingalls, Ruth Smith and Bonita Brown and a brother Jack Comer all of Cleveland, Oklahoma and three grandchildren Susan K. Horn, Nolan D. Wilcoxson and Olan L. Wilcoxson.

Services will be held Wednesday November 21, 2001 at 10:00 AM in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edward Zickefoose officiating the services. Burial will follow immediately on the family plot in the Dixie-Creek Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
