Lowis Lorene McDonald, 91, passed from this life on June 29, 2019, in Cleveland, Oklahoma. A lifelong resident of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Lowis was born October 1, 1927, to Harold “Mack” and Laura Belle (Cloughly) McDonald. After graduating from Cleveland High School, Lowis worked for American Airlines in Tulsa. She then went on to work for National Tank in Tulsa, Mack’s Appliance in Cleveland, and Drysdale’s in Tulsa.
In Lowis’ spare time, she held membership in the Eastern Star of the masons. She was also a member Chamber of Commerce, as well as the BPW, serving some time as its president. Lowis attended the First Baptist Church. For vacations, Lowis would take bus tours all over the United States as well as frequent trips to Branson. When Lowis would go gambling with the “Hickory House Gang,” she would say she only used nickels. On the radio, she loved Charley Pride as well as anything Elvis Presley.
Survivors include her brother Bruce McDonald, and his wife, Susie; her niece, Shannan Freeman and husband Kevin; her nephew Chase McDonald and wife, Rachel; and her great nieces and nephews, Ethan, Ella, and Ben McDonald; as well as her beloved great “dog niece” Lacey Lee. Lowis is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Winford Owen McDonald and special friend Russell Wineinger.
Visitation for Lowis is being held Tuesday, July 2, 2019, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Services will be Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 10:00 AM at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Lowis will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
