Lorene Allen a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2013, in the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of 85 years seven months and nineteen days. Lorene was born January 23, 1928, in Searcy County, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Roy and Della Myrtle (Keeling) Thompson. As a young girl Lorene moved with her parents to Cleveland, Oklahoma where she began her education. She later graduated from Cleveland High School with the Class of 1946. On September 29, 1945, Lorene was united in marriage to Chester Kenneth Allen, Sr. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Cleveland. Lorene has worked as several places in Tulsa and Cleveland. Some of her jobs were at Williams TV, Dorsett Electronics, and Cleveland Schools as a bus driver as well as a mail carrier. Lorene also worked for A & B Oil Well in Cleveland for many years as a secretary. Lorene loved to do things for other people. Especially crocheting, making quilts and giving her labors of love to her family. Lorene always had a very large Thanksgiving Dinner and a smaller Christmas Dinner so that the children were able to open their gifts. Lorene was an avid reader until her eyesight began failing, at that time she began listening to books on tape. Lorene was a very devoted Christian and loved listening to the GaitherÃs music, Jimmy Swaggart and Charles Stanley. She was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church Survivors are her son Brad Allen of Cleveland, Oklahoma, two daughters Marilyn Blair of Tulsa and Janell Montgomery of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one brother Robert L. Thompson of Coweta, Oklahoma; one sister Anna LaFern Brown of Cleveland, Oklahoma; six grandchildren Jammie Wilburn, Ken Montgomery, Marsha Montgomery, Michael Allen, Katie Allen, Sara Beth Allen, seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Roy Thompson, mother Della Myrtle Thompson; husband Chester Kenneth Allen, Sr., one son Chester Kenneth Allen, Jr. known as Kenny, one brother Kermit Thompson and one sister Bernice Bradshaw. Church Services will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, September 13, 2013, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gregory Hall. Private burial will be held at 12:00 pm in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
