Graveside funeral services for Loella Ann Ballenger a life long Jennings resident will be held Monday, November 6, 2006, at 2:00 pm at the Jennings Cemetery Chapel with Harrison Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
Loella was born April 10, 1931 on the Armstrong Lease Southeast of Jennings to Walter Lee and Coeta Reve (Coonrad) Carpenter. As a young girl, Loella began her eduation at the Jennings School. After the completion of her education, Loella was united in marriage to John Tilmon Ballenger in Winfield Kansas on August 1, 1946. Loella and J.T. returned to Jennings after their marriage. They established their home on a farm Northeast of Jennings. Loella remained living on the farm where they raised their five children John, Linda, Sharon, Kevin and Susan until the early 1970Ãs. At that time they built their current home in town.
Loella was a very loving and giving lady. She would often find a family in need; purchase them gifts, wrap the gifts up and have her children knock on the door and run back to the car and leave. Mrs. Ballenger was very active with her children and grandchildren, never missing a school function or activity. Loella was also a former city council member for 8 years from 1994 until 2002. Loella was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Most of all Loella loved spending time with her family, a lady with a ìwarm heart and firm handî.
Loella passed away Friday, November 3, 2006 with her family at her side at the age of 75 years 6 months and 23 days. She was preceded in death by her father Walter Carpenter, step father Charlie Robinson, grandson Brian K. Page and great grand daughter Kaylee N. Hamner.
Survived by her loving husband of over 60 years J.T. of the home; mother, Coeta Robinson of Jennings, Oklahoma; two sons, John R. Ballenger of Sacramento, California; Kevin L. Ballenger of Jennings, Oklahoma; three daughters, Linda A. Anglin of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Sharon S. Page of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Susan K. Hanlon of Jennings, Oklahoma; one sister, Shirley Gwen Stevenson of Boise, Idaho; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
