Lindsey Adam Davis known as Friday passed away at his home Wednesday evening, April 4, 2012, in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years six months and twelve days old. Friday was born September 23, 1917, in Roff, Oklahoma. He was the son of Frank Lindsey and Katie Velma (Young) Davis. Friday was raised and began his education in Roff, where he later graduated from high school. Following the completion of his education, Friday began working in the oil and gas industry installing pipelines throughout the United States. During the time he was in Pascagoula, Mississippi; Friday met the love of his life Betty Louise Carver. Following a short courtship the two were united in marriage in Pascagoula, Mississippi on June 20, 1941. Friday and Betty continued to travel following the pipeline and returned to Cleveland in the late 1940Ãs. Friday soon began operating a dozer service in the area and in 1955, started L.A. (Friday) Davis Construction Company. During his time in business, Friday and his company were regarded as the ìpremier river crossing company.î They were sought after time and time again by numerous companies for their abilities to install pipelines thru rivers. Friday was the first to forge the Mississippi River with a pipeline in the Minnesota area. Friday owned and operated the company for many years and later retired in 1979. Even though Friday retired he still had many things he loved to do. He spent many hours fishing, hunting and working in his garden. Friday loved to grow vegetables and share them with his friends and neighbors. He was also very active and civic minded. He was a Masonic Mason, Rotarian as well as served his community as Mayor, Cleveland School Board Member and Cleveland Area Hospital Board Member. Friday was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church and appointed as Deacon on March 2, 1958 and was appointed Deacon Emeritus on February 18, 2007, for his long and distinguished service. Friday Davis is described as a man of honor, selfless, someone who could not say no and very giving. Most of all he was a man that loved his family and would always stand up for them and loved them dearly. Survivors are his son Frank Davis and his wife Cindy of Cleveland, Oklahoma, daughter Linda Davidson and her husband Leonard of Cleveland, Oklahoma daughter Denise Norrid of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren Jason Davis, Adam Davis, Trey Davidson, Tracy Cheek, Clint Davidson, Jacob Davidson, Rachael Cortes, Josh Norrid, Kyle Norrid; 16 great grandchildren Maya Davis, Lila Davis, Kate Davis, Tyler Davidson, Seth Davidson, Coleson Cheek, Jaden Cheek, Connor Davidson, Jamen Davidson, Isaiah Cortes, Isaac Cortes, Noah Cortes, Kainan Cortes, Isabella Cortes, Brant Norrid, Allie Norrid and a host of other relatives, friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Katie Davis, wife Betty Davis, daughter Darla Dean Davis Green, one brother Edwin Davis, four sisters Lois Gentry, Norlene Mayer, Sue Hathaway, Doris Davis. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, April 6, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Hall and Rev. Curt Payne officiating. Musicians will be Robert Annett and Kim Brady.
