Linda Sue Willcox passed away December 8, 2006, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 60 years and 3 months. She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers Terry and Marvin Hillsberry.
Linda was born September 8, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the daughter of Atchi Lee and Nellie Mae (Gentry) Hillsberry. Linda was raised and attended school in Sand Springs, Oklahoma; she attended Charles Page High School. Linda was united in marriage to James Edward Willcox at Hominy, Oklahoma in the Nazarene Church on November 26, 1963. They made their initial home in Hominy, Oklahoma. They have lived at several different places in Osage County. In 1969, Linda and James moved into their current home. In the 1983, Linda gained employment with Wal-Mart Stores in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She began working in the stock room and worked her way up to Customer Service Manager and lastly as the Assistant Manager at her retirement.
Mrs. Willcox enjoyed being with her family and friends. While James would be out working, she would often prepare lunch and surprise all the ranch cowboys with a homemade meal as well as for the Hominy Ranchers Rural Fire Department. She would also prepare a dinner for all of the football boys prior to their game on Friday night. Linda was a lady that had a big heart. She would often help people in need or accept them into her home until they could get things straight in their life. Linda loved to read romance novels and write poetry. She also enjoyed playing bunko, spades, pitch and dominoes. Linda was a member of the Prue Baptist Church.
Survived by her loving husband of forty three years James of the home; three children, Jamessa Terrell of Osage, Oklahoma; Kim Darrow of Hominy, Oklahoma; James Hagin Willcox of Hominy, Oklahoma; mother Nellie Pate of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two brothers Robert Hillsberry of Maramec, Oklahoma; Richard Couffer of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; one sister Regina Stallsworth of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren Mandy, Matt, Jake, Brad, Casey, Destiny, Katie Jo and Rylee, three great grandchildren Bryce, Kallie and Blake as well as a numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Burial will follow in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
Pallbearers will be Brad Sanders, Matt Terrell, Brock Ready, Brother Dickson, Clayton Casebolt, and Scott Drummond.
