Glenn Dale and Linda Lou (Strange) Edwards passed away as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident on Friday, July 26, 2013. The couple were returning from a visit with their son, Jason and returning to their home in Hominy when the accident occurred, about seven miles south of Cleveland. Glenn was born on December 16, 1955 in Talihina, Oklahoma. He was the son of Gene and Mildred Corrine (Baker) Edwards. He moved his parents at an early age to California and attended school in there. Although his parents returned to Hominy in 1971, Glenn remained in California to complete his education, graduating from Hogan High School in Valejo, California with the Class of 1974. Glenn started a career in the oilfield at the early age of sixteen and has worked in almost every capacity in the industry. His expertise was known throughout the area having learned the business from the ground up as a roughneck, roustabout, driller, pumper and operating a pulling unit. He was employed by many companies during his career including C. H. Tyler, Southland Energy, Lamamco Drilling and was employed as a pumper for Linn Energy at the time of his death. Glenn was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He liked tinkering on about any kind of motor or engine and would work on anything that he thought he could repair and some things he couldnít. Glenn was described by his family as a funny, giving and hardworking man that was an excellent role model. He was considered as a hero to his son, Jason. Glenn was extremely proud of his Native American Heritage as a member of the Choctaw Nation. Linda Lou (Strange) Edwards was born on born July 27, 1956 in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of William George and Betty Lou (Hinton) Strange. She was raised and attended school in Hominy, graduating with the Class of 1974. Linda was a feisty, outspoken servant who would help anyone who needed help. She often said that she was, ìlarge and in charge.î She was her son Jasonís biggest fan and truly loved her family and especially her grandchildren. Her family indicated that if a degree could be given in ornery that Linda would have a PHD. Although at times a bit unpredictable, her jovial and loving personality endured her to everyone she met. She enjoyed bossing everyone around in a good way and loved working on craft projects. She would always be found drinking unsweetened iced tea and enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart. Linda was employed for many years by the Hominy Public School System. She worked in different capacities including providing transportation for the special needs children, working as a substitute teacher and as a teacher's assistant. Linda just recently retired from her position with the Hominy School District. Glenn and Linda were married around the Hominy Oklahoma area in 1974. They have made their home in Hominy for their entire married life. They were know throughout the Hominy area by almost everyone and will be missed by all. . They are both survived by a son, Jason Paul Edwards of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and two gradchildren, Samuel Thomas and Mary Olivia Edwards of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Glenn is also survived by four brothers, Charles and Laura Edwards of Greenfield, Missouri, Roy Edwards of Hominy, Oklahoma,Terry Edwards and fried, Jo Conner of Hominy, Oklahoma, and Gene and Connie Edwards, of Hominy, Oklahoma; a sister, Sharon Stanley of Hominy, Oklahoma; an uncle, two aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. . He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Dale and Mildred Corrine Edwards Linda is also survived by two brothers, Kelley Strange of Pawnee, Oklahoma and John Roscoe Pryor of San Francisco, California; two sisters, Norma Jean Beaver of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Polly Blackburn of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; an uncle and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William George and Betty Lou Strange and a brother, William Edward Strange. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Old Hominy High School Gymnasium. Interment will follow at the A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home or online at www.chapman-black.com
